Learning conferences

At Rangitaiki Independent School we recognise our students as significant partners in the learning and reporting process. We encourage them to develop a growing understanding that they are able to make a positive difference for their own future.

Teachers regularly use the language of learning.  This includes talking about Learning Intentions (we are learning to ..) and Success Criteria (how will we know we have learnt this..).

At Learning Conferences, the students take an active role in recognising their achievements and in setting their goals.  Using work samples from their portfolios and exercise books, the students demonstrate how they have made progress as a learner. They are encouraged to identify their strengths and areas for further development. Teachers also share and discuss progress and achievement with students and parents.
