Rangitaiki Independent School

Years 2-6

Our class has Year 2 to 6 students.  There are 27 students in our class.

We have been learning about statistics during maths.  We had to run our own statistical investigations, create graphs using excel, and analyse our results.

· We are learning to carry out a statistical investigation.

· We are learning to analyse and interpret our graphs.

Students from years 3-6 have been learning all about the production process for technology.  We began with a visit to Subway, where we observed the process that took place to create a sub.  Students questioned Subway employees:

· How do you know what to put in your subs?

· What systems do you have in place to prepare and store your food?

· What are the most popular and least popular fillings that people request?

After returning to school, we designed our own subs with ingredients we liked, thinking about what we would have to do to prepare it.  We had to create a flow-chart showing the steps to explain how to make the sub.

Soon we will be creating a production process to make healthy subs at school for our teachers and our class—yum!
