Welcome to our Preschool and thank you for taking the time to enquire about our centre.

Coastlands Early Childhood Learning Centre

has been operating since May 2006. The centre is designed to cater for children two years and over. Set in the peaceful surroundings of Coastlands and often described as a very 'calm' environment, children thrive in the spacious indoor and outdoor areas, with the sound of the nearby ocean in the background.

 

The Cornerstone Values are embedded into the centre philosophy, instilling values such as respect, honesty, kindness and perseverance. Our philosophy also supports building within your child a sense of selfworth and optimism.

 

Our ratios of children to staff are kept low so a high quality of teaching is always in place. An extremely low turn over of staff has ensured all of our children are familiar with their teachers, which has lead to enriched relationships and a firm sense of belonging. Our Education Review supports this aspect of our centre.

 

We have two classrooms. Our Kiwi Room is designed for our 2 and 3 year olds while the Pukeko room is designed for our older 3year olds and 4 year olds. Both these rooms have transitioning programmes so children move easily to their next educational setting , whether that is going into the Pukeko Room or entering school. Educational Philosophy

Coastlands Early Childhood Learning Centre provides an excellent environment for the development of young children. High quality education supports the holistic development of all children.

    Our large indoor, outdoor areas ensure the children have plenty of room for the vast selections of play areas. It has been set up for two

    The Pukeko Room is specifically designed for our 4 year old to prepare them for a smooth transition to school.

As an enviroschool and preschool we teach students to:

1. We have two worm bins to put  our food scraps in. The byproduct from the worms is put onto the school gardens.

2. We have compost bins. When the worm bins are full, the food is put into the compost bins.

3. We use paper on both sides.  All classes have paper recycling bins. Once the paper is used on both sides, it is put into big wool bags to be recycled.

4. We take lunch waste home.  To reduce school rubbish, any non recyclable rubbish from lunchboxes is taken home.  We encourage raw, unprocessed lunches.

5. Gardens are being established for the students to grow vegetables.
